Romeo and Juliet is an tragic love story written by William
Shakespare. This story adapted from The Tragical Of Romeos and Juliet it is
witten by Arthur Brooke in 1562 based on real story in Verona, Italy.
The story begin with
hostility between Montague and Capulet family. Prince of Verona even declares
that any futher fighting between both families will be punished by death.
One day, Count of
Paris told Lord Capulet about his plan to marry Juliet, daughter of Lord
Capulet. But, Capulet asked Count of Paris to wait for 2 years because she
still young and invited him to attend the ball.
In the
Montague house, Romeo is sad because he is having a one sided love with the
girl, named Rosaline. Benvolio wants to help Romeo, so he persuade Romeo to
attend the ball at Capulet’s house in hopes of meeting Rosaline, a niece of
Lord Capulet.
At the ball,
instead of meet Rosaline, Romeo just met Juliet. Since that, Romeo was falling
in love with Juliet. After the ball, romeo sneaked into the Capulet’s courtyard
and confessed his love to Juliet. After that, with the help of a friar, they’re
secretly married despite of theirs family hatred.
Juliet’s cousin,
Tybalt knew that romeo was attending the ball at that night so he challenged
Romeo to duel with him, but Romeo refused it. Romeo’s friend, Mercutio offended
by Tybalt arrogance and he accepted the duel on Romeo’s behalf. Romeo tried to
break up the fight because Mercutio is seriously wounded. Romeo felt guilty and
he slayed Tybalt. Because that accident, Prince of Verona declares that if
Romeo return he will be executed.
Romeo secretly
came to meet and spend a night at Juliet’s chamber. They’re made love for the
first and last time. In the next moring, before leave Juliet, he kissed her one
last time.
Lord Capulet
wanted Juliet to marry Count of Paris, but she rejected. Even her mother forced
her to accept that. So Juliet visited Friar for helping her and he offered a
drug that would be put her into a coma for forty two hours. Friar would send a
message to Romeo about Juliet plan, but unfortunately the message never reach
Romeo.
When Romeo came, he
found Juliet was die and he fought and killed Count of Paris. Still believing that
Juliet was die, he drank the poison and dead beside Juliet’s body. Juliet then
woke up and found romeo was die, and she stabed herself with Romeo’s dagger.
After that,
Montague and Capulet families are reconciled by their children’s deaths and agree
to end their violent feud.
