Summary of “Rip Van Winkle” and “The Gift Of The Magi”

                Do you know the short story of “Rip Van Winkle” and “The Gift Of The Magi”?If you haven’t read it. I’m wanted to tell you what the story about, but I don’t tell you the full story. You don’t worry. You are can read the full story on the internet. Ok let’s start.

            Firstly, story of “Rip Van Winkle”. The story tells about a kind man, but unfortunately, he was lazy. He have wife, but she was fussy person. Wife always told to work. After he got the job, he goes to the forest with his dog. On the forest he meets the dwarfs. The dwarfs asked him to help bring water barrel. Because the man so kind, he help the dwarfs bring the water barrel to given to one of dwarfs’ friend. After the man successes full bring the water barrel to dwarf friend. He was offered to drink. He drinks 3 glasses of water with dwarf. After drinking, he sleep under the tree. After wake up, he fell confused and calls the dog, but the dog doesn’t come. He back to the village and he was sock, because the village was changed. Every think he knows was changed. He’s house look old. He looking anyone to ask where is his wife and children. Finally, he meets someone, and he was known his wife had died and he meets his son and  his son told him that his son was looking for his father for 20 years. The man had sleep for 20 years.

            Secondly, story of “The Gift Of The Magi”. The story tells of young married couple, Jim and Della Dillingham. They are poor family, but them loving each other. On Christmas, Jim wants to give a gift to Della. Della also wants to give a gift to Jim. Jim knows that Della really likes her hair, so Dim wants to give a hair comb to Della. Della knows that Jim likes his watch but his watch is bad, and Della wants to buy a new watch for Jim, but they both don't have money. After think for long time, Jim sells his watch to buy a comb, and Della sells his hair to buy a new watch. Finally, they exchanged gifts but they were surprised if they sold what they loved to buy gifts. Even though they feel sad but they also feel happy because they sell cherished items to buy gift for their couple. After that, they enjoyed dinner and forgot about the shocking incident.
